American Artist Frederick L. Shute
The sculptures I have created in solid 24K gold and solid sterling silver represent the great ideas and archetypes in ourselves and in our lives. After many years of researching ancient civilizations and mythologies, and of experimenting in the creations of precious metal sculpture I am proud to present Mythological Images. A journey into the past to bring the gods of ancient civilizations back to life.

I have always been fascinated by the common theses and archetypes that have populated the evolution of religious thought. Although it often seems that world religious consciousness is evolving backwards, great questions arise. Were Quetzalcoatyl, Osiris, and Virachocha one and the same? Did Achenaton first synthesize the idea of monotheism among mortals? Or is the concept of polytheism only a misunderstanding of religious iconography?

By thinking of the craftsmen of over 2000 years ago and how they immortalized the magic, essence and life of their gods in exquisite sculptures, and applying this beauty through the art of Gemology to humanize my academic research about ancient civilizations, I have tried to bring to you a touch of the past.  Visit the deities of ancient civilizations and become a part of the myths these gods inspired by reading their biographies.

Imagine walking through Mayan, Incan and Egyptian temples that are pulsing with life.  You will feel the strength of Hercules, the love of Eros, the ethereal energy of Isis, Osiris and Horus, and the mysteries of Quetzalcoatl, Wacha-Chan and Shiva. This is my vision for you to share.

Working with the original clay and wax image, I combine the ancient art of lost-wax casting with state of the art technology to cast each limited edition image. Once cast, each statue undergoes meticulous engraving and polishing.  A six-sided brass edged case, with three back sides mirrored (nonmirrored available), is placed on a stone base, such as Italian marble. Each image comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
