The first Mishna (verse ) of the book "Pirkei Avot",  "Ethics of the Fathers",  is illustrated, cut out and engraved on and around this Mezuzah.
"Moses received the Torah from Sinai and passed it on to Joshua, and Joshua to the Elders, and the Elders to the Prophets and the Prophets passed it on to the men of the Great Knesset ....."
Each of the men is carrying a Torah scroll representing the Written and Oral Law passed from generation to generation
